At Auburn & Ash, everything I’ve created is with you in mind. A little hair space where the world slows down for a moment and the focus is entirely on you. I know life gets busy, and sometimes you just need an hour or so in the chair to reset.

For me, it’s about more than great hair, it’s about helping you feel seen, understood, and cared for. I tune into your lifestyle, your hair, and what’s going on in your world to create realistic, beautiful results that make you feel confident, inspired, and hopefully a little lighter when you leave.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Amy — the heart and hands behind Auburn & Ash Hairdressing. I’ve always loved the art of transformation — not just how hair looks, but how it makes people feel. For me, hairdressing has always been about connection and creativity — those little moments where a fresh colour or cut brings out someone’s inner spark and confidence.

Every person who sits in my chair has their own story, and I feel so lucky to play a small part in it. I pour my energy into each colour, cut, and conversation — because this isn’t just my job, it’s truly my happy place.

Outside the salon, life is busy and full in the best way with my husband Glen and our twins, who keep us on our toes and laughing daily. And if you’ve been into Auburn & Ash, you’ve probably met Frosty — our gentle therapy cat who loves greeting clients and curling up on laps mid-appointment. He’s very much part of the team and has a talent for making everyone feel at home.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Full qualified hairstylist - New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Professional Stylist) (Level 4).
25 years (and counting) of experience!
Have worked at NZ Fashion Week, and Fashion for a Cure.
Qualified as a certified HITO assessor.

THE SALON SPACE, A LABOUR OF LOVE

Auburn & Ash was lovingly built by hubby and I in the backyard of our Shotover Country home, a space designed for comfort, and connection. With only two styling stations and a massage chair at the basin, it’s an intimate environment designed to allow you to escape life for a precious moment, and truly relax.
